Ginsenoside Rg1 has antiaging, anti-platelet activation, promotion of wound healing, and neuroprotective effects, it has protective effect against Aβ25-35-induced toxicity in PC12 cells,might be through the insulin-like growth factor-I receptor (IGF-IR) and estrogen receptor (ER)signaling pathways. Ginsenoside Rg1 is a desirable agent for enhancing CD4+ T-cell activity, as well as the correction of Th1-dominant pathological disorders, which by increasing Th2 specific cytokine secretion and by repressing Th1 specific cytokine production. It increased the expression of the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) mRNA and reduced ERK pathway, expression of transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) mRNA. Ginsenoside Rg1 is a ginsenoside found in Panax ginseng and Panax japonicus var. major that is dammarane which is substituted by hydroxy groups at the 3beta, 6alpha, 12beta and 20 pro-S positions, in which the hydroxy groups at positions 6 and 20 have been converted to the corresponding beta-D-glucopyranosides, and in which a double bond has been introduced at the 24-25 position. It has a role as a neuroprotective agent and a pro-angiogenic agent.
