Gelsemine
Gelsemine is a highly toxic compound and may be a glycine receptor agonist. Gelsemine has antitumor, anti-hyperlipidemic,anti-oxidative activities,it also has marked antinociception in inflammatory, neuropathic and bone cancer pains without inducing antinociceptive tolerance.

Mimosine
L-mimosine is an L-alpha-amino acid that is propionic acid substituted by an amino group at position 2 and a 3-hydroxy-4-oxopyridin-1(4H)-yl group at position 3 (the 2S-stereoisomer). It a non-protein plant amino acid isolated from Mimosa pudica. It has a role as an EC 1.14.18.1 (tyrosinase) inhibitor and a plant metabolite. It is a member of 4-pyridones and a non-proteinogenic L-alpha-amino acid. It is functionally related to a propionic acid. It is a conjugate acid of a L-mimosine(1-). L-mimosine is a naturally occurring plant amino acid and iron chelator that arrests the cell cycle in the late G(1) phase, prevents the initiation of DNA replication. Mimosine disrupts elongation of the replication fork by impairing deoxyribonucleotide synthesis, it has antiproliferative and antifibrotic effects on adult cardiac fibroblasts.

Gelsevirine
Gelsevirine has anxiolytic activity, may be via the agonist action of glycine receptor in the brain. Gelsevirine can significantly inhibit the proliferation of human carcinoma cell line SW480 and MGC80-3 in a dose-dependent manner, the 50% inhibiting concentration(IC50)of gelsevirine on SW480 cells and MGC80-3 cells are 1.41±0.06 mM and 1.22±0.11 mM respectively.

Arabinocytosine
Cytarabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside in which cytosine is attached to D-arabinofuranose via a beta-N1-glycosidic bond. Used mainly in the treatment of leukaemia, especially acute non-lymphoblastic leukaemia, cytarabine is an antimetabolite antineoplastic agent that inhibits the synthesis of DNA. It also has antiviral and immunosuppressant properties. It has a role as an antiviral agent, an antimetabolite, an antineoplastic agent and an immunosuppressive agent.
