Flavonol is a monohydroxyflavone that is the 3-hydroxy derivative of flavone. It is a member of flavonols and a monohydroxyflavone. It is a conjugate acid of a flavonol(1-).

Tectol has anti-plasmodial activity, it as a moderately active growth inhibitor with an IC50 3.44±0.20μM. It exhibited significant activity against human leukemia cell lines HL60 and CEM. Tectol may cause itchy dermatitis, the dermatitis appeared on the neck, upper legs, underarms, and trunk area.

It also shows strong nematocidal activities, however, it is highly cytotoxic; thus, the prospect of its direct application is low.

Dehydroabietinol inhibits growth of chloroquine-sensitive as well as chloroquine-resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum cultivated in erythrocytes in vitro (IC 50 26-27 microM). Dehydroabietadienol is an abietane diterpenoid and a carbotricyclic compound.
