Plantainoside D
Plantainoside D shows potent antioxidative effects as those of ascorbic acid, it shows angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory inhibitory activity in vitro with the IC(50) value of 2.17 mM, it also shows inhibitory activity against PKCalpha with the IC50 value (in microM) of 14.8. Plantainoside D protects adriamycin-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cardiac muscle cells via the inhibition of ROS generation and NF-kappaB activation.

Bicuculline
Bicuculline is a benzylisoquinoline alkaloid that is 6-methyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinoline which is substituted at the 5-pro-S position by a (6R)-8-oxo-6,8-dihydrofuro[3,4-e][1,3]benzodioxol-6-yl group. A light-sensitive competitive antagonist of GABAA receptors. It was originally identified in 1932 in plant alkaloid extracts and has been isolated from Dicentra cucullaria, Adlumia fungosa, Fumariaceae, and several Corydalis species. (+)-Bicuculline is a competitive antagonist of GABAA receptors with IC50 of 2 μM, also blocks Ca(2+)-activated potassium channels. It is effective in vitro against spore germination of some plant pathogenic fungi, it can significantly inhibit spore germination of all the fungi at concentrations of 100-1000 ppm.

Nerolidol
Nerolidol, a sesquiterpene used as a food-flavoring agent and currently under testing as a skin penetration enhancer for the transdermal delivery of therapeutic drugs. Nerolidol shows anti-cancer, sedative, antiulcer, antifungal, and antifeeding effects. Nerolidol can inhibit the growth of Leishmania amazonensis, L. braziliensis, and L. chagasi promastigotes and L. amazonensis amastigotes with in vitro 50% inhibitory concentrations of 85, 74, 75, and 67 uM, respectively. Nerolidol is a farnesane sesquiterpenoid that is dodeca-1,6,10-triene which carries methyl groups at positions 3, 7 and 11 and a hydroxy group at position 3. It is a natural product that is present in various flowers and plants with a floral odor. Chemically, it exists in two geometric isomers, trans and cis forms. It is widely used in cosmetics (e.g. shampoos and perfumes), in non-cosmetic products (e.g. detergents and cleansers) and also as a food flavoring agent.

Hypaconitine
Hypaconitine, an active and highly toxic constituent derived from Aconitum species, has anti-inflammatory activity, is widely used to treat rheumatism. It produced neuromuscular blockade by reducing the evoked quantal release, the mechanism of this effect was attributed mainly to blocking of the nerve compound action potential.

Mesaconitine
Mesaconitine has antinociceptive activity, has inhibition of stimulus-triggered and spontaneous epileptiform activity in rat hippocampal slices. It has antiinflammatory activity, it induced Ca2+ influx and activation of nitric-oxide synthase in endothelial cells and, thus, induced vasorelaxation in rat aorta.

Vincamine
Vincamine is a plant alkaloid used clinically as a peripheral vasodilator that increases cerebral blood flow and oxygen and glucose utilization by neural tissue to combat the effect of aging. Vincamine has contractile and relaxant actions on the guinea pig trachealis, may be due to the generation of prostaglandins and to changes in the membrane Ca2+ fluxes and/or the intracellular Ca2+ distribution. Vincamine alleviates Amyloid-β 25-35 peptides-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells. Vincamine is a methyl ester, a vinca alkaloid, an organic heteropentacyclic compound, an alkaloid ester and a hemiaminal. It has a role as a metabolite, a vasodilator agent and an antihypertensive agent. It is functionally related to an eburnamenine.

Acitretin
Acitretin has immunomodulatory effect, and low dose acitretin therapy is safe, well tolerated and partially effective in chemoprophylaxis of skin cancer in renal transplant recipients, it for chemoprevention of non-melanoma skin cancers in renal transplant recipients. Acitretin dramatically improves the results of UV-B treatment in patients with severe psoriasis and it markedly decreases the effective cumulative UV-B dose. Acitretin in the treatment of severe lichen sclerosus et atrophicus of the vulva. Acitretin therapy is effective for psoriasis associated with human immunodeficiency virus infection. All-trans-acitretin is a retinoid, an acitretin and an alpha,beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid. It has a role as a keratolytic drug.
