Cedrol shows antifungal activity against the fungus Botrytis cinerea , it has the potential of becoming a new hair growth promoter. Cedrol has sedative effects, it induces autophagy and apoptotic cell death in A549 non-small cell lung carcinoma cells through the P13K/Akt signaling pathway, the loss of mitochondrial transmembrane potential and the generation of ROS. Cedrol is a potent competitive inhibitor of CYP2B6-mediated bupropion hydroxylase with the inhibition constant (Ki) value of 0.9, μM, it also markedly inhibited CYP3A4-mediated midazolam hydroxylation with a Ki value of 3.4 μM. Cedrol is a tertiary alcohol and a cedrane sesquiterpenoid.
