Isoformononetin shows fungitoxic activity against Cladosporium sphaerospermum; it also has immunomodulatory activity, it inhibits the differentiation of Th17 cells and B-cell lymphopoesis to promote osteogenesis in estrogen-deficient bone loss conditions. Isoformononetin reverses bone loss in osteopenic rats and exerts bone anabolic action by preventing osteoblast apoptosis. Isoformononetin is a methoxyisoflavone that is isoflavone substituted at positions 4' and 7 by hydroxy and methoxy groups respectively. It has a role as a metabolite, a bone density conservation agent and an apoptosis inhibitor. It is a member of 7-methoxyisoflavones and a hydroxyisoflavone. It is functionally related to a daidzein.
