Drimenol

Drimenol is a sesquiterpenoid primary alcohol, being methanol in which one of the methyl hydrogens is substituted by a 2,5,5,8a-tetramethyl-1,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydronaphthalen-1-yl group. It is a homoallylic alcohol, a member of octahydronaphthalenes, a primary alcohol and a sesquiterpenoid. It derives from a hydride of a drimane. Drimenol shows antifungal activity, it is able to affect Botrytis cinerea growth with the EC50 value of 80 ppm. Drimendiol also shows quorum sensing inhibition activity.
